TAPPI serves the nonwovens segment of the industry through the Nonwovens division. TAPPI’s Nonwovens Division promotes the objectives of TAPPI with respect to materials, equipment, and processes for the manufacture and use of nonwovens.

Dr. Ramkumar Receives Award
Dr Seshadri Ramkumar, better known to his associates as "Ram", received the "Technical Textiles Accomplishment Award" for his nonwovens research and promotion of technical textiles field. His enthusiasm and tireless efforts were recently recognized at the International Conference on Performance Wear Functional Textiles, July 24-25, 2008 conducted at PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, India.
The award was presented by Mr. G. Rangaswamy. He is Chief Patron of the "Performance Wear and Functional Textiles Conference" (PFT) and Managing Trustee, PSG College of Technology.
Dr. Ramkumar supervises the Nonwovens and Advanced Materials Laboratory at Texas Tech University, USA. He is Co-Chairman, INDA-India committee USA and has been playing an important role for over the past 5 years for the promotion, growth and international linkages in technical textiles in India.
Technical textiles is a fast-growing sector in the global textile market. Dr. Ramkumar and his associate have recently released a report documenting annual growth of technical textiles to be 13.3%.
