Characterization of the Polymerization of Melamine Formaldehyde Resin Using Dynamic Mechanical Thermal Analysis, 2002 Decorative and Industrial Laminates Symposium

Dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA) was used to characterize the polymerization (or cure) of melamine formaldehyde resin. This study involved the application of DMTA, in both temperature ramp and isothermal methods, to study the cure of melamine resin treated paper. The evaluation included the DMTA analysis of treated paper samples containing increasing levels of resin catalyst.
