Participate in Proposing or Voting on Standards that Impact the Industry
For details on the TAPPI Standards and TIPs programs, including definitions and links to general information documents, such as guidelines for developing Standards and TIPs, indexes, suppliers, and test labs, please visit the General Standards and TIPs page.
Propose a New Standard or Technical Information Paper (TIP)
Getting started is easy. Simply send your proposal to standards@tappi.org. The minimum requirement to get a new project started is a draft of the new Standard or TIP. From there, the TAPPI Standards Manager will guide you through the appropriate process to finalize and approve the new document.
Many times, ideas are generated in discussions at technical committee meetings. Are you taking advantage of your TAPPI membership by joining one of these technical groups? Find out more details at our Technical Divisions page.
Participate in Voting and Commenting on Standards That Are Up for Review
All Standards go through a peer-reviewed voting process before they are accepted. Voting on Standards gives you an opportunity to stay abreast of new Standards that are being proposed while also contributing to this important process. You will need to join the Standard-Specific Interest Group (SSIG) for each Standard that you want to vote on. Go to the Subject Category page where you will find links to the forms for each subject area. Check off each Standard of interest and return the form(s) to standards@tappi.org.
