You'll
love playing on this large and colorful simulation of
a paper machine. Through touch-screen computer programs,
videos, and games, you can follow the process of papermaking
from pulp to the finished product.
Start in the "control room"
where you'll find some fun learning activities. A
touch-screen computer explains each part of a paper
machine in detail through illustration, video, and
a question-and-answer section. The control room also
features three short videos which explain how paper
is manufactured, how it is recycled, and the history
of paper itself.
From the control room, walk out onto
the "forming board," and crawl through the
large "presses" and "drying cylinders."
If you climb all the way down, you'll find yourself
at the papermaking station, where you can make your
own piece of paper by hand from recycled materials
such as blue jeans and cotton! While waiting for your
turn at the papermaking station, watch a fun music
video about paper.
Already, over 500,000 visitors have
been lucky enough to experience our traveling papermaking
exhibits first hand. Watch for these exciting exhibits
to come to your favorite science or children's museum.
