Hoyt Arboretum is located on a 200-acre site in the West Hills within Washington Park. It features trees and shrubs from temperate regions worldwide. Offers free guided walking tours on 10 miles of trails. One-hour walks through the arboretum with a guide can be arranged for groups of up to 60 students. Tours are age- appropriate and can be focused towards class interests. College and adult groups may schedule in advance for programs. The staff also offers on-site or off-site classroom presentations and hands-on workshops for individual classes. Fees are $25 for workshops at the arboretum and $50 for workshops at schools. Other programs include nature camps, environmental workshops, community service projects, student projects, indoor classroom, and a covered picnic shelter. Workshops, tours and classes are offered for adults, families and children throughout the year. The arboretum participates in week-long Arbor Day celebration for all ages. Booths, slide shows, talks and environmental activities are available upon request.

The World Forestry Center is a nonprofit educational institution that promotes - through its museum, demonstration forests and education programs - an appreciation and understanding of world forests and their uses. The World Forestry Center has a variety of programs, daily tours and class activities lasting from 11/2 - 2 hours of interest to pre-K through adult. Operates the World Forestry Center Museum and the Magness Memorial Tree Farm. The World Forestry Museum is open 10:00am - 5:00pm daily. Admission is $3.50 adults, $2.50 seniors and children 6-18 years. Children five and under and members are free. Features permanent and changing exhibits of the forests of the Pacific Northwest and forest-related topics, a 70-foot Talking Tree which serves as the museum guide, and the "world's largest log cabin." The Magness Memorial Tree Farm is an educational demonstration forest used to show different methods of woodland management techniques during an hour's hike along the management loop trail. Has two miles of hiking trails, a covered picnic area, an authentic fire tower lookout, hand-crafted log bunkhouses, summer forest camps, and a visitor's center.

Offers tours of paper mill which makes linerboard, the brown paper that forms the smooth inside and outside layers of corrugated boxes. Hours are Monday and Friday at 9:00am. Other times may be available. Closed holidays and the week between Christmas and New Year's. Semi-annual closings for maintenance during selected days in April and October. Tours last 11/2 hours. Children must be able to walk and wear earplugs. No strollers. Stair-climbing and extensive walking inside and outside the mill. Groups should call one week ahead. No maximum group size. Dress appropriately and wear sturdy shoes. No open-toed footwear. Does not offer forestry tours on a regular basis, but occasionally tours are available to industry associations and university classes.

Willamette Industries offers school tours for any age group. Tours include hands-on papermaking, recycling discussions and demonstrations of lab testing equipment. Tours last from 1-3 hours, depending on the age of the students, group size and the length of the tour desired. Willamette Industries also makes presentations to schools, community groups, scouts, etc. The facility is involved in numerous community relation activities including National Arbor Week, United Way and Adopt-A-Park.
