TAPPI Announces Timing of Annual Business Teleconference

TAPPI’s 2010 annual business conference will occur on February 23, 2010 at 1:00 pm-1:30 pm Eastern Time. The call satisfies requirements of the Association’s by-laws.

Key elements of the call include opening remarks from TAPPI’s Board Chair, Jeff Siegel. His remarks will lead into a financial report delivered by TAPPI President Larry Montague. Chairman Siegel will then discuss board succession and transition and finally adjourn the meeting.

Congratulations to TAPPI 2010 National Award Winners

Richard J. Kerekes, PhD., Professor Emeritus, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, will receive the 2010 TAPPI Gunnar Nicholson Gold Medal Award, which was established in 1985 to replace the TAPPI Gold Medal, awarded from 1928 to 1984. The award recognizes the individual who has made preeminent scientific and engineering achievement of proven commercial benefit to the world’s pulp, paper, board and forest products industries and the other industries that TAPPI serves.

Willis J. Potts, Jr., Retired from Temple Inland, Rome, GA, USA will receive the 2010 TAPPI Herman L. Joachim Distinguished Service Award, which was first presented in 1994. The award was established to recognize an individual for voluntary leadership and service which have significantly and demonstrably contributed to the advancement of the Association.

Empire State TAPPI/NY Canadian PIMA Local Section Member Scott Frasca, Senior Account Manager, RohmNova, Sidney, ME, USA, will receive the 2010 TAPPI Paul W. Magnabosco Outstanding Local Section Award. It recognizes outstanding leadership and exceptional service to one or more Local Sections which has resulted in significant and demonstrable benefits to Local Section members.

TAPPI is gratified to have such accomplished members in its midst who have contributed their time, effort, and wisdom for the betterment of other TAPPI members and the industry. Our association and the industry are better because of these people and their exemplary achievements.
