2019 Division Leaders Honored at CorrExpo

TAPPI’s Corrugated Packaging Division honored several top industry leaders with awards at CorrExpo 2019, October 14 – 16 in Denver, Colorado. TAPPI President and CEO Larry Montague presided over the awards presentations honoring these professionals, including:

  • Division Leadership and Service Award recipient Miles E. Fletcher, Corrugating Division Sales Manager, BW Papersystems. Fletcher joined TAPPI in 1991 and in 2009 was elected to the Corrugated Packaging Division Council, serving as an elected member from 2009 to 2011. In 2009, Fletcher was nominated and served as the Corrugated Division Vice-Chair and Chair of the Technical Program Committee from 2011 to 2013. He served as the Corrugated Division Chair from 2013 until 2015 and then chaired the Division’s Awards Committee from 2015 to 2017.
  • Thomas A. Staal received the 2019 Division Technical Award and Harry J. Bettendorf Prize. This significant honor recognizes outstanding accomplishments and contributions which have advanced technology or processes in the corrugated industry.
  • 2019 Paul Magnabosco Outstanding Local Section Member Awardee Richard H. Olsen. The Paul Magnabosco Outstanding Local Section Member Award recognizes individuals whose outstanding leadership and exceptional service to one or more Local Sections has resulted in significant and demonstrable benefits to members.
  • Young Professional of the Year Award recipient David Mead, Production Manager at Packaging Corporation of America’s (PCA) Fairfield, Ohio sheet plant. The award recognizes aspiring leaders in the global forest products, pulp, paper, tissue, packaging and associated industries who have made significant impacts in the areas of leadership, community service, and problem solving contributions to scientific or engineering projects. Eligible nominees are age 35 or younger with no more than 10 years of industry experience.

Next year’s Division awards will be presented at SuperCorrExpo 2020 – the largest corrugated event in the western hemisphere.
