What Inspection Guidelines Do You Have in Place for Your Yankee Dryer?
The TAPPI Yankee Dryer Safety and Reliability Committee’s Guidelines for the Safe Assessment and Operation of Yankee Dryers is an updated combination of Guidelines for Safety and Condition Assessment (1992) and Guidelines for the Safe Operation of Yankee Dryers (1995), the most commonly used references on Yankee safety and operations guidelines in the tissue industry. This new edition provides updated guidelines relative to steel Yankee dryers, as well as new learnings and recommendations for cast iron Yankee dryers.
In Guidelines, the authors dedicated an entire chapter to inspection guidelines, throughout which you will find color photographs and diagrams providing insight into surface inspections, internal inspections, visual inspections, ultrasonic testing, phased array test, dimensional checks, magnetic particle examination, dye penetrant testing, and radiography testing. In addition, the chapter also includes tables displaying the advantages and disadvantages of many of the tests and measurements.
The chapter also delves into the importance of incorporating input from crews, supervisors, and the responsible parties into your Yankee dryer maintenance program to achieve success in managing your Yankee dryer. Check out the Table of Contents.
