Two Workshops Announced for Nano 2022 in Helsinki
Two workshops have been announced for TAPPI’s 2022 International Conference on Nanotechnology for Renewable Materials (TAPPI Nano 2022), 13-17 June in Helsinki, Finland.
The first workshop, Commercializing Cellulose Nanomaterials - International and Emerging Requirements for Safe Manufacturing and Product Development, will take place 09:00-12:00 on Monday, 13 June.
Join this workshop to learn market-specific safety demonstration requirements for new substances, with focus on cellulose nanomaterial applications. A panel of scientists and regulatory experts will discuss international approaches on safety for nanomaterials. Case studies will be used to explore concepts, present current knowledge, theory, and practices for meeting market-specific regulatory requirements in Europe, Asia, the United States and Canada.
The second workshop is the CNM Characterization Workshop – Primary Characterization, 13:30-16:00 on 13 June. It is critical to use characterization measurement protocols that give consistent, reliable and accurate results to advance the understanding, process optimization, and utilization of cellulose nanomaterials (CNMs). However, because of the exponential growth in interest/activity in CNMs, much of the development of characterization measurement protocols have been outpaced.
This workshop helps to address this gap by providing summaries and outlines detailing the best practices and limitations for several techniques/methods typically used for the characterization of CNMs, in particular, surface charge, surface characterization, crystallinity determination and mechanical properties.
