Explore the Science of Packaging in Bratislava

Every two years, the European flexible packaging and converting industry gathers for a premier event: TAPPI’s European PLACE Conference. This year, Bratislava, the capital and largest city of Slovokia, is an ideal setting for the 18th biennial event, 10-12 October 2022. Steeped in history, the city has something for everyone.

Check out some of its many landmarks, including Bratislava Castle, home of the Slovak National Museum of History. Take in the view of the city and the neighboring countries from its 47-meter-high crown tower.

Just 10 km west of the city center, Devín Castle is Slovakia’s most-popular sightseeing venue according to the Bratislava Tourist Board. Built between the first and fourth century, the castle was destroyed by Napoleon’s troops in 1809 and the ruins declared a National Historic Landmark in 1961. Perched on top of a high crag, the castle towers over the small village of Devín and overlooks the confluence of the Danube and the Morava rivers, the Austrian border.

Thirsty? Head to Apponyi Palace in the heart of historic Bratislava for the Slovak National Collection of Wine, where you’ll find the top 100 wines from all over Slovakia. Specialized tasting programs allow visitors to taste 72 of the wines in 100 minutes.

How will you spend your time in Bratislava? If you’re thirsty for knowledge in the areas of polymers, laminates, adhesives, coatings and extrusion, then European PLACE is the place to be this October. Plans are underway for the event, and registration will be opening soon.
