TAPPI’s Tissue Division’s Yankee Dryer Safety and Reliability Committee will host their Spring meeting in Cleveland, Ohio at the Hilton Downtown Cleveland on May 1 – 2, 2024. For those who are unable to attend, there will be a virtual option available via Microsoft Teams for the Business Meeting. Attendance is open to everyone, subject to registration. Business Meeting: Thursday, May 2, 2024 from 8 AM - 5 PM

Join fellow industry peers in person for a two-day program of Yankee Dryer experts and enthusiasts sharing the latest in safety and operational procedures. For those who are unable to attend, there will be a virtual option via Microsoft Teams for the Business Meeting. Attendance for this event is free and open to everyone, but registration is required. Register through the TAPPICon registration site. You will have the option to register for both TAPPICon and the Yankee Dryer Meeting at this time. If you prefer, you will also have the option to register for just the Yankee Dryer Meeting.

Yankee Dryers are one of the most dangerous and costly areas of a tissue mill. This active group of Yankee Dryer owner/users and service providers work to expand knowledge of safe operating and maintenance practices. The committee's goal is to develop standard practices and standards for problems which cause drying system delay and compromise safety across the tissue industry.

A project of the Yankee Dryer Safety & Reliability Committee, this new edition provides updated guidelines relative to steel Yankee dryers, as well as new learnings and recommendations for cast iron Yankee dryers. Its contents are categorized into Engineering and Design, Maintenance and Repair, Operating Guidelines, and Personnel Safety. If you are a Yankee Responsible Person (YRP), a municipal official that makes onsite inspections, or an insurance carrier that covers Yankee dryers, this is your must have resource.

 

 

Guidelines for the Safe Operation of Yankee Dryers, Second Edition

This report provides suggested guidelines to aid in the safe operation and management of Yankee dryers.  These guidelines are intended to satisfy existing ASME Codes and most jurisdictional requirements.  Contents include:  Engineering and Design Guidelines, Maintenance and Repair Guidelines, Operating Guidelines, and Personnel Safety Guidelines. A project of the Maintenance and Mechanical Engineering Committee of TAPPI’s Engineering Division.

 

 

MPP Series: Towel and Tissue Papermaking

Participants learn towel and tissue papermaking terms, concepts, and processes. After completing the Towel and Tissue Papermaking CD, participants should be able to: explain how the manufacturing of towel and tissue grades of paper is different from other grades of paper, describe the different types of tissue formers, and explain the TAD process and its advantages and disadvantages.
