Lake States TAPPI/North Central PIMA 100 Year Presentation

Lake States TAPPI/North Central PIMA, Miron Construction, Appleton Coated, Paper Discovery Center and UWSP Paper Science Foundation collaborated create an award-winning display, shown as part of the Centennial Celebration Museum in Atlanta, that includes an “Honoring Our Past, Inspiring Our Future” brochure, a Paper Industry International Hall of Fame Inductee presentation, a presentation highlighting vintage paper mills in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Michigan dating back more than 100 years, information on UWSP Paper Science Foundation, and a Paper Industry International Hall of Fame nominee package.

Collaborating on this project was truly a reflection of the group’s mission: to provide opportunities for members to develop a broader professional perspective; publicize member and pulp and paper industry accomplishments; encourage research, technical progress and high-quality people to the industry; support institutions with pulp and paper educational programs; and merit the active support of companies, institutions and individuals in the industry.

According to Dan Goymerac, board member of Lake States TAPPI/North Central PIMA and the Paper Industry International Hall of Fame, “Lake States TAPPI’s main focus is to promote education and provide financial assistance to students and educational facilities, along with enhancing the professional development and growth for those involved in the pulp and paper industry.”

Working on this display for the Centennial gave them the opportunity to promote, support and embrace the history of TAPPI and the industry as a whole. From Hall of Fame inductees and vintage ads, to paper mills of the past and present, the information compiled for the display is tremendously valuable from a historical perspective. Lake States TAPPI/North Central PIMA is a proactive group that takes pride in their history and focuses on ways to invest in students who have an interest in the pulp and paper industry. The Centennial Celebration was a perfect way to reflect on the past and look toward the future, as well as promote the industry and the Lake States local section.

“The development of the TAPPI booth for the 100th anniversary, along with the “Honoring Our Past, Inspiring Our Future” brochure and Paper Industry International Hall of Fame Inductee PowerPoint presentation gave our group - which included equipment suppliers, manufactures, contractors, engineers - all paper professionals - an opportunity to reflect on our industry as a whole, the advances that have been made over the years, and drive and ingenuity that has led us to being a world leader in the production of paper and cellulosic-related materials and products,” said Goymerac.

The brochure and PowerPoint presentations will be displayed and handed out at the Paper Industry International Hall of Fame Annual Induction Dinner, in addition to all Lake States events.
