STAR - January 2025 - Standards Coming Up For Review
TAPPI announces the 2025 standards review schedule for critical pulp and paper testing methods. Mid-career professionals can join Standard-Specific Interest Groups (SSIGs) to vote on revisions affecting quality control, laboratory procedures, and manufacturing specifications. Key standards under review include instrumental color differences, pulp testing protocols, paper strength measurements, and corrugated board construction methods. Review dates are May 17, May 18, October 14, and October 19, 2025. Operations managers and R&D leads should request voting membership at standards@tappi.org before target ballot dates to influence industry testing standards that impact daily operations and quality assurance programs.

STAR - January 2025 - General Announcements
TAPPI streamlines standards development for experienced professionals through two clear pathways: submit new ideas via the New Idea Submission form for committee review, or send substantial drafts directly to standards@tappi.org for guidance through the approval process. The withdrawal of TIP 1205-02 Cotton in nonwovens demonstrates TAPPI's commitment to maintaining industry relevance through mandatory 10-year reviews. Legacy leaders can access withdrawn TIPs free as members or reinstate them by contacting tip@tappi.org, providing opportunities to influence industry standards and share decades of expertise.
