Speaker:  Lou Piffer

Lou Piffer recently retired from Davis-Standard after 36 years. He still represents their interests in conferences and TAPPI training seminars as well as assisting them in providing cast film and extrusion coating technical support for their aftermarket groups in the US and throughout the world.

Lou received a BS in Chemical Engineering from Drexel University in 1985 and is a former President’s Award winner at Davis-Standard, given to the top employee in the organization.

Lou is very active at TAPPI, writing multiple papers, chairing sessions, contributing two chapters to each of the last two extrusion coating manuals, as well as going through all the officer positions, culminating in being the TAPPI International Flexible Packaging and Extrusion Division Chairman. He was awarded the TAPPI Leadership Award and Andreas Ahlbrandt Prize in 2001 and the Division Technical Award and Sam Sweig award in 2024.

Lou has started his own company, Extrusion Training Solutions, which provides training and consulting to the extrusion coating industry.
