The biggest breakthrough probably relates to the increased efficiency of paper machines and the production process. The massive improvements in the use of energy, fibre raw material and water are incredible compared with the first Fourdrinier machines. Improvements in forest management have also been significant, as has recent breakthroughs in product performance. The implementation of nano-cellulose in new products is very exciting.
