Continuous Digesters: Exploring Damage Mechanisms

Continuous Digesters: Exploring Damage Mechanisms

Virtual Event
Thursday, September 12, 2024 to Thursday, September 12, 2024

12PM - 2PM (ET)

TAPPI’s Engineering Division and the Digester Work Group is excited to offer a new Knowledge Share and discussion focused on continuous digesters - corrosion, cracking, and other damage mechanisms. The Knowledge Share webinar will be presented by Margaret Gorog, Houghton Cascade Holdings, LLC.

The main damage mechanisms in continuous digesters are caustic stress corrosion cracking and general corrosion of carbon steel. Stainless steels can experience similar degradation. This presentation will review these damage mechanisms and cover others that affect both internal and external parts of the vessel. Additionally, corrosion and cracking of auxiliary equipment such as the steaming vessel, level tank, sand separator and flash tanks are also included.

Registration is open to all and is free of charge. The event will be held in Microsoft Teams.
