Hands-On Learning Experience Offered at PEERS 2022

TAPPI’s 2022 Pulping, Engineering, Environmental, Recycling and Sustainability (PEERS) Conference kicks-off Sunday, October 30, with three, hands-on workshops designed to help participants improve workflow, increase operational efficiencies and apply creative technologies.

The simulation-based workshop, On-Line Digital Twin Technology for your Plant - Have your DCS Communicate with a Live Simulation Model, explores the value that simulations and “digital twin” technology can bring to mill operations. This offering is led by Renee Roesel, Manager, Software Training and Support at ANDRITZ, and Tanaji Mali, Product Manager, IDEAS Digital Twin at ANDRITZ.

Attendees have the opportunity to gain a broad understanding of pulp bleaching technology and its implications for pulp quality control and environmental impacts during the popular Bleach Plant Operations workshop led by Brian Brogdon, Future Bridge Consulting Services. Discussions focus on best practices and cutting-edge technologies of bleach plant operations.

PEERS’ Brownstock Washing workshop is led by Robert (Bobby) Wilson of Applied Material Solutions (AMS). This workshop covers basic operating and design principles associated with brownstock washing. Discussions target fundamental applications of displacement, extraction, and dilution washing as well as water use and reuse. Attendees will gain insight on washing optimization, economics, and troubleshooting techniques.

PEERS 2022
PEERS, October 30 – November 2, 2022 in Providence, R.I., focuses on the latest advances in technology, as well as fundamental process knowledge and control issues mills face each day. The Conference provides mills and other professionals the opportunity to learn from industry experts in a presentation setting, as well as engage in peer-to-peer discussions during panel sessions and committee meetings. PEERS also offers multiple networking events, a New Technology Showcase, and an exhibit floor where attendees can speak with suppliers about the latest technologies and solutions.

PEERS 2022 is co-located with the International Bioenergy & Bioproducts Conference (IBBC). Attendees can attend both technical programs for only one registration fee. Mills receive special discount pricing.
