2024 Introduction to Wet End Chemistry Course

This introductory course will provide attendees with a strong foundation in wet end chemistry troubleshooting and optimization best practices. New topics this year include injection systems, process control, biological control and enzymes. The course is designed to help improve product quality, increase machine productivity and reduce costs.

Hands-On Workshop for Pulp and Paper Basics

This hands-on workshop on the NC State campus provides a thorough overview of pulping, bleaching, chemical recovery, recycling, stock preparation, papermaking and converting. The course will consist of presentations each morning and hands-on laboratory and pilot-plant exercises every afternoon, including a paper machine run and all of the major operations used to make pulp and paper. All major pulp and paper tests are also performed hands-on. Students receive a course notebook with approximately 400 pages of reference material.

This combination has proven to be a highly effective and enjoyable way to gain fundamental knowledge of the industrial papermaking process. Class size is limited to 16 for this course to provide ample opportunities for questions and discussion during classroom sessions and hands-on experiences on the paper machine.
