Corrugated Packaging Council
The Corrugated Packaging Division focuses on the manufacture and use of corrugated containers and associated packaging materials and products. It serves as a forum for knowledge sharing in the corrugated packaging industry. The Division is comprised of members who work for manufacturers, converters, suppliers, consulting companies, and others in the industry.
The Corrugated Packaging Council is the governing body of TAPPI’s Corrugated Division. It is comprised of up to eight appointed members from major integrated and independent box companies, and up to nine elected positions, including suppliers and current committee chairs.
Below are the volunteer leaders, technical committee chairs, and appointed & elected members guiding TAPPI's Corrugated Packaging Division for the 2025-2026 season.
Leadership
Greg Arvanigian — Division Chair
President, Arvco Container Corporation
Greg Arvanigian is President of Arvco Container Corporation of Kalamazoo, Michigan, an independent corrugator with operations in Michigan, Indiana, and Florida. He earned his BS in Political Science from Central Michigan University in 1984 and began his career that same year at Arvco, the company his father George founded in 1971. Greg held Production Manager, Projects Manager, and Vice President roles before succeeding his father as President in 1989. He served 16 years on the AICC Board of Directors, becoming Chairman in 2001, and has also served on the boards of ICPF, ICCA, and FBA committees. Greg's community involvement includes the Boards of the Boy Scouts of America and Junior Achievement; he was named Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Kalamazoo's "Most Valuable Person" in 2008 and was inducted into the AICC/Paperboard Packaging Hall of Fame the same year.
Dave Burgess — Vice Chair, Technical Program Chair
Sales Director, JB Machinery
Dave began his career with Pamarco Global Graphics in 1984, working in Plant Management and Regional Sales Management before being appointed Vice President of Sales and Marketing. In 2008 he joined Flexo Concepts as VP Sales, focusing on global distribution for its Doctor Blade and anilox cleaning equipment lines. Dave is very active with TAPPI, AICC, and FTA, having authored and presented many technical papers over the last 20 years. In 2011 he joined JB Machinery as Director of North American Sales, overseeing IR Drying, UV Curing, and KleenPlate product lines, and now holds responsibility for all JB markets globally.

John Semenske — Past Chair, Awards Chair
Regional Sales Manager, BW Papersystems
John has over 30 years of industry experience. He began his career with Marquip in 1985 in the electronics department while attending the Wisconsin School of Electronics, where he earned his degree in Electrical Engineering. He joined the Marquip Field Service Department, installing equipment across the US, Europe, Latin America, and Asia, and was later promoted to Asian Field Service Manager, living in Singapore for two years. Back in the US, John founded Corrugated Concepts, a drives and controls company that later merged with Chicago Electric, where he spent 12 years. In 2007 he rejoined Marquip (now BW Papersystems) as Midwest Regional Sales Manager. John became a TAPPI member in 1993 and currently serves as Vice Chair of CORBOTEC, a Corrugated Packaging Council member, Chairman of Chicago TAPPI, a member of the TAPPI technical program committee, and past Supplier Advisory Committee Chair.

Ed Stuczynski — Past Chair
Director of Engineering, Menasha Packaging
Ed Stuczynski is Director of Engineering at Menasha Packaging Co., LLC of Neenah, Wisconsin. He began his career at International Paper, working at the Georgetown, SC and Statesville, NC facilities in process improvement, maintenance, engineering, and manufacturing management roles. In 2002 Ed joined Dufrene Machinery/RAR Electric as a project manager, managing machinery installations across equipment suppliers and box plants. He joined Menasha Packaging in 2006 as corporate engineer and has since worked his way up to the Director level, responsible for capital planning and process improvement projects. Ed is a 1992 graduate of Ohio State University, has been a TAPPI member since 2006, and currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Chicago TAPPI local section.

Bert Hurler — Appointed Member
Manager, Engineering & Capital Purchasing, International Paper
Bert Hurler is Manager, Engineering & Capital Purchasing for International Paper in Memphis, TN. He began his career in the corrugated industry in 1992 at International Paper's Bay Minette, AL box plant, after serving five years of active duty in the U.S. Navy as a certified nuclear propulsion plant operator. During his career with International Paper, Bert has held roles as Process Improvement Manager, Maintenance Manager, Quality Manager, Plant and Corporate Project Engineer, and Corporate Engineering management. He now oversees all capital purchasing and engineering services for International Paper's North American Container business. Bert holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and an MBA from the University of Memphis, Fogelman Center. He became a TAPPI member in 1996 and was appointed to the Corrugated Packaging Council in 2018.

Mark McNay — Appointed Member
President, SMC Packaging Group (a Division of Green Bay Packaging)
Mark is Senior Vice President of SMC Packaging, based in Springfield, MO, with additional locations in Kansas City, MO; Conway, AR; and Tulsa, OK. SMC serves Food and Beverage, Chemical and Pharma, Shipping and Distribution, Point of Purchase, Retail Ready Packaging, and E-Commerce markets, and is one of the largest independents in the Central United States. SMC is celebrating its 50th year in business, and Mark has been with the company for 44 of those years. He is a serial community volunteer, having served and chaired boards including United Way, Ozarks Regional YMCA, Boys & Girls Clubs, the Board of Public Utilities, the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, and Central Bank of the Ozarks. Mark has been a TAPPI member since 1988. A geologist by education, he enjoys long-distance bicycle touring, water and snow skiing, golf, and Cardinals baseball.

Josh Reich — Appointed Member
Director of Sales, PCA CorrChoice LLC
Josh has worked in the Pulp & Paper Industry since 2012 and currently serves as Director of Sales for PCA CorrChoice LLC. He earned his BBA from Ohio University in 2012 and an MBA with an emphasis on Executive Leadership in 2015. Josh joined Greif full-time in 2012 as a Commercial Business Analyst for its Paper Packaging & Services Division, later holding roles as Customer Service Representative and Manager, leading Greif's Coating Division, and working across specialty product lines for the CorrChoice business units. He has been responsible for commercial growth, technical expertise on coating products, marketing and analytics, and hands-on operations experience. Josh has been a TAPPI member since 2012, serving as Chair of the Young Professionals Division and a member of the Corrugated Packaging Council since 2016.

Jeff Gebauer — Appointed Member
Production Manager, Niagara Sheets, LLC
Jeff Gebauer is Production Manager at Niagara Sheets, LLC and has dedicated 33 years to the industry. He has worked on three different corrugators and is proficient on both the wet end and dry end of the corrugated process, having held most positions on the corrugator, including machine operator, corrugator supervisor, and production manager. Jeff has been active within TAPPI for the past 10 years, currently serving on the CORBOTEC committee, and is a former CORBOTEC Committee chair.

Keith Hamilton — Appointed Member
President, Georgia-Pacific Corrugated
Keith Hamilton is an operations executive who has delivered transformational improvement across three diverse Fortune 500 businesses in the pulp and paper, tire, and automotive industries. He is currently President of Georgia-Pacific's Corrugated Business, where he oversees operations and commercial teams across 35 sites, including box plants, sheet feeders, Hummingbird® digital print, and EarthKraft® mailers.

Danny Lopez — Elected Member
Vice President, New Machinery Sales, The Haire Group
Danny Lopez currently serves as Director of New Machinery Sales for the Haire Group and has spent his entire career in the corrugated industry. Born and raised in Spokane, WA, he earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Washington State University in 2006 and was immediately hired by Alliance Machine Systems International as an Application Engineer, building corrugated plant layouts across North, Central, and South America while completing his MBA. After his MBA, Alliance promoted him into Product Engineering, where he integrated the J&L Specialty Folder Gluer into the product line. He later moved to Phoenix, AZ as Western Senior Territory Manager, covering the western US and Canada for nine years. After 17 years with Alliance, Danny joined the Haire Group in 2023 to help develop its growing product range. He has been married to his high school sweetheart for 19 years and has two teenage children; his hobbies include music, soccer, and spending time with family.

Tom Staal — CORBOTEC Chair, Scholarship Chair
Director of Management Systems, Coastal Containers
Tom is a graduate of Michigan Technological University, where he participated in the Army ROTC program and was commissioned as an Armor Branch Officer in the US Army, serving as Platoon Leader, Company Commander, and Staff Officer on active duty and later in the reserves. After leaving active duty, he joined Advance Packaging Corporation as a corrugator supervisor and spent 10 years on the corrugator before taking over the Quality and Paper testing role, which he grew for over 20 years until the company was sold. During that time he was active in TAPPI and the FBA technical committee, and received the Corrugated Packaging Division Technical Award in 2017. In 2023 he joined Coastal Container in Holland, Michigan as Director of Management Systems. Tom has been married to Amy for over 30 years and is the proud father of two sons who recently graduated from Michigan State's College of Engineering.

Joe Slattery — Supplier Advisory Committee Chair
Midwest Region Sales Manager, Fosber America
Joe Slattery is Midwest Sales Manager and Corporate Accounts Manager for Fosber America, working with inside and regional sales managers to find the best solutions for Fosber's integrated customers, alongside Midwest region integrated and independent customers directly. Prior to sales, Joe spent 12 years in field service and installations for Fosber, working with many current industry leaders on over 100 dry-end, wet-end, and full Fosber corrugator installs. Across field service, installations, and sales, Joe has visited a majority of corrugated plants in the USA, along with many in Canada and Europe, giving him valuable insight into what has made the industry strong and where it can progress.

Mike Kohler — Elected Member
Vice President, Kohler Coating
Mike Kohler has worked for Kohler Coating since 2009 and is the current Vice President. He has extensive experience on corrugators, as well as the world's only 13-inch corrugating line used for corrugator trials and testing, located in Canton, Ohio, and specializes in rod-metering systems associated with Kohler's WaterDecks, Coaters, and Glue Units. Mike has been an active TAPPI member for over 10 years, serving as Co-Director of Events for TAPPI's Young Professionals Division from 2017–2019, Chairman of the YP Division, and YP Liaison to the Corrugated Packaging Council from 2019–2020. He was recognized as TAPPI's Young Professional of the Year in 2018 and served a prior three-year term as an elected member of the CPC.

David Crouch — FISCOTEC Chair
Senior Quality Manager, Atlantic Packaging
David Crouch is Senior Quality Manager for the Mills Division at Atlantic Packaging, leading quality efforts across multiple linerboard mills. His role focuses on product performance, process stability, and technical support for corrugating plants. David leads a multi-site quality team and works closely with production, engineering, and technical service partners to execute mill trials, improve performance, and standardize quality systems across the mills.
