Sean Ireland, CEO of CapaTec, to Deliver Keynote Address at 2024 International Conference on Nanotechnology for Renewable Materials (Nano)

ATLANTA (April 1, 2024) – TAPPI is pleased to announce that Sean P. Ireland, CEO and Co-Founder of CapaTec, Inc., will deliver the opening keynote address at the 2024 International Conference on Nanotechnology for Renewable Materials (Nano), June 10 -14 in Atlanta, Georgia.

With almost 40 years of experience in business, research, electrical engineering, and process control, Sean P. Ireland has been a driving force in the field of nanocellulosics and technological innovation. His keynote, scheduled for Monday, June 10th at 3pm, will focus on the advancements and potential impact of nanotechnology in enhancing fruit and vegetable longevity, contributing to the global efforts to minimize food spoilage and eradicate world hunger.

Before founding CapaTec, Inc., Ireland served as President of FiberLean Technologies N.A. Inc. and Vice President of Business Development for FiberLean Technologies Global, where he made significant contributions to the development of nanocellulosic materials and their applications. He has also been instrumental in securing critical funding for nanocellulose research and application development through collaborations with federal and state governments.

Sean's career spans across various sectors, including his service in the U.S. military as a highly accomplished and decorated F-16 Fighting Falcon pilot and Commander of the 174th Forward Operating Location, New York. His expertise and leadership have led to multiple patents and applications in nanocellulose enhanced composites, polymers, building materials, neural modeling, and coating formulations.

In addition to his industry contributions, Sean has been actively involved in TAPPI's nanotechnology and paper divisions, serving as the first Chair for the TAPPI Nano Division. He has also been an Adjunct Professor at the University of Maine and part of the Scientific Advisory Board for P3Nano, further demonstrating his commitment to advancing nanocellulose technologies.
