Wallace Layman
North Carolina State University
Corrugated Division Mitsubishi Scholarship

Wallace Layman is on track to graduate in May 2024 with dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Paper Science and Engineering and Chemical Engineering. Having completed his first year in the paper program at North Carolina State University, Layman maintained a 4.0 GPA and was an active member of the school’s TAPPI student chapter. He was also elected to serve as an officer of the chapter in the coming year.

Initially Wallace had secured a summer role with Buckman in Charleston, S.C., but subsequently learned the position had been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. He says that he is anxiously awaiting his next opportunity and looks forward with great exuberance to working in the pulp and paper industry. Aside from his academic interests, Layman has also worked for the Servier County Golf Course as a cart attendant, and in his free time enjoys playing his banjo, launching objects with his trebuchet, and weightlifting.
